On Saturday, 26 July 2025, the movement Mothers Who Pray for Their Children was warmly welcomed to St Michael’s Parish in Traralgon, Victoria, for a deeply moving morning tea and workshop that stirred hearts, inspired faith, and revealed the spiritual hunger of mothers in the region.
The gathering was born from the heartfelt desire of Adriana, a mother and devoted parishioner of St Michael’s, who attended our National Conference in Melbourne last year. Touched by the beauty and power of the movement, she felt called to bring this grace into her own parish community—so that mothers in her area, too, could encounter the healing and unity found through prayer.
With the generous support of the parish and the helping hands of Adriana and Marita, who lovingly prepared a beautiful morning tea, over 30 mothers, grandmothers, and spiritual mothers gathered in the parish hall for a morning filled with reflection, fellowship, and deep intercession.
Our Australian Coordinator, Mary Krotwaar, led the session with warmth and wisdom, sharing the story, mission, and charism of the movement. She guided the group in praying the Rosary for the Children, meditating on the Joyful Mysteries through the lens of motherhood—helping each woman to rediscover her spiritual vocation and the power of her intercession.

The morning was marked by laughter, tears, and a profound sense of connection, as mothers opened their hearts to God and to one another. For many, it was a first-time experience of a space where motherhood, spirituality, and sisterhood were honoured and nourished in such a meaningful way.
We were also blessed by a brief visit from Fr. Aju Varghese, the parish priest of St Michael’s, who came to show his support and encouragement. He expressed his surprise and delight at the number of women in attendance—affirming the clear and present need for a movement like this within the parish and wider community.
By the end of the morning, many participants were already discerning the next step. Several mothers took home information packs and contact details, expressing a desire to introduce the movement to their own parishes and start new groups locally. Truly, this may be just the beginning of something beautiful in Gippsland and beyond.
We give thanks to God for the generosity of St Michael’s Parish, the hospitality of those who made the day possible, and the openness of every mother who said "yes" to stepping into this sacred space of prayer.
Let us continue raising a generation of praying mothers—united in faith, strengthened by hope, and inspired by love.
“Everything can be changed by the power of prayer.”
